Wow this is such a great collection of early biomimicry science! I picked it up at the Grand Bazaar on the Upper West Side back in 2018 for like $5 before I lived here. It contains a "greatest hits" collection of Scientifican American articles related to the study of animal movement, perception, and other aspects, with an eye to how humans can design things better with this knowledge.

This science was long enough ago that not many of the people practicing it had ecologically-neutral design in mind, but it combines well in spirit with cradle-to-cradle.
